Mr. Suri, the founding principal of Menlo Capital Group, is one of the foremost developers, owners and managers of real estate in Northern California. He began his real estate career in 1976 as an entrepreneurial developer of commercial real estate in Silicon Valley. Among his early projects are some of the first high-rise buildings ever to be constructed in Silicon Valley, many of which remain signature landmarks today. During the 1980s and 1990s, Mr. Suri also acquired and developed warehouses, research and development complexes and shopping centers. By 1999, the aggregate value of his real estate investments was in excess of $400 million.

In addition to overseeing the U.S. operations of Menlo Capital Group, Mr. Suri leads the company’s operations in India. There, he is applying his extensive development experience in Silicon Valley to establish pioneering commercial and residential projects in some of India’s fastest-growing cities.

 

Throughout his 30+ year career, Mr. Suri has served as a highly respected advisor and “angel investor”, guiding numerous companies through their early stages of growth. Among these are technology companies Aurum Software, Viewlogic, OnLight and B2B Connect; communications firms Tower Communications and SuriTelecom; and business service providers Regency Packaging, USA, Akka Properties, and Crystal Amba Associates.

Prior to establishing Menlo Capital Group, Mr. Suri worked as a certified public accountant with PricewaterhouseCoopers. He is a charter member of TiE (The Indus Entrepreneurs,) a global nonprofit network dedicated to advancing entrepreneurship. He is also active with numerous philanthropic organizations and charitable causes in the U.S. and India.

Mr. Suri is a graduate of the Sri Ram College of Commerce in New Delhi, India and holds an MBA from York University in Toronto, Canada.

Prior to joining Menlo Capital Group, Mr. Suri was a Vice President with Global Asset Capital, LLC (“GAC”), a private equity investment firm specializing in growth equity, late stage, and special situation investment opportunities.

Mr. Suri has executed over $100 million in equity investments in technology, telecom, financial services, energy, and real estate related investments for GAC. His transaction experience includes executing the firm’s acquisition of Viventures Partners SA (“VPSA”), the €500M private equity division of French conglomerate Vivendi Universal as well as the sale of VPSA’s investment portfolio to HarbourVest Partners.

Mr. Suri was responsible for structuring, executing and negotiating new and follow-on investments in Webify (acquired by IBM), Neophotonics, Thales Electronic Solutions, One Acces, Okyz (acquired by Adobe), Netonomy (acquired by Comverse), Cast Software, GoFish.com (OTC: GOFH), Terraplay Systems, Digital Route, In Fusio, Silecs, Close Call America (acquired by MobilePro), and several other early and late stage companies.

Prior to GAC, Mr. Suri was a Business Development Manager for OnLight, Inc and prior to that an analyst at JP Morgan & Company in New York.

Prior to joining Menlo Capital Group, Mr. Suri spent several years at Clarity Partners, a private equity firm located in Los Angeles, California. Mr. Suri’s responsibilities included sourcing investment opportunities, deal execution, due diligence, deal structuring, financial modeling, securing debt financing, portfolio management and managing investment exits (IPO, recapitalization or sale).

While at Clarity, Mr. Suri helped make investments in various portfolio companies in the US, Europe and Asia. Mr. Suri worked closely with many of the Clarity portfolio companies in senior operating capacities and helped guide and analyze their strategic direction. Also, Mr. Suri was closely involved with Clarity's fundraising activities for their various private equity funds.

 

Prior to this, Mr. Suri was an investment banker in New York at UBS Investment Bank where he was involved with the analysis and execution of high yield, equity, and M&A transactions in various industries.

Mr. Suri holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Cornell University with a double major in Computer Science and Economics both of which he completed in the span of 3 years. During his fourth year at Cornell, Mr. Suri received a Master of Engineering degree in Computer Science. Mr. Suri is the recipient of the GE Scholarship Award for Excellence in Computer Science for his independent research work in the field of distributable computing.

Raj Matthew is CFO for all global finance at Menlo Capital Group, a private equity fund invested in Real Estate Development and Merchant Banking in the North America, Europe and India. Raj has been through numerous project financings, syndications, acquisitions, re-financings and private/public placements starting out with PriceWaterhouseCoopers in the San Francisco office. He was involved in the IPO of Airtouch-Vodafone, which became the 4th largest IPO in US history. He was also CFO of Asante Technologies, a public computer networking company in Silicon Valley. Earlier in his career, Raj worked at BankAmerica Capital Markets and Seagate Technology with varying levels of responsibilities.

Raj, a Certified Public Accountant, holds both an MBA and BSc. from the University of San Francisco. He also completed the Stanford Executive Program at the Stanford Graduate School of business in 2002. He serves on the board of Beam On Technologies (a PCB supplier) and is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, California Society of CPA’s and the Treasury Management Association of America.

Bob Hemati, Vice President of Project Development, leads Menlo Capital Group’s global project management efforts with extensive experience in the rehabilitation, ground-up development, historical preservation, and construction of high density commercial real estate projects worldwide.

Prior to joining Menlo Capital Group, Bob worked as the Senior Estimator at Turner Construction Company.Bob was also the Vice President of Construction at Century Theatres, where he was responsible for the full cycle of new construction and renovation of multi-plex theatre projects throughout the U.S.

Bob’s background includes leading Taslimi Construction Company’s Northern California division as Managing Director, during which he coordinated the successful completion of projects for O’Melveny Myers LLP, Kennedy Jenks, California Endowment, Chronicle Books, as well as the complete remodeling of the Beverly Hills Hilton Hotel.

In addition, Bob comes to Menlo with extensive experience from his time at Cahill Contractors, Perini Corporation and Space Builders where he was responsible for the project management, estimating, and project engineering for a variety of projects.Bob specifically lead efforts in the construction of Moffitt Hospital at UCSF Parnassus Campus, Stevenson Place (a 27-story office tower for Tishman West Management), a total restack of 525 Market for Wells Fargo, tenant improvements for Charles Schwab at 333 Bush, and the complete renovation of Hotel and Brasserie Savoy in San Francisco.

Bob Hemati received a Master of Science degree in Construction Engineering & Management from the University of California at Berkeley and is a licensed Professional Engineer and General Contractor in the State of California.

Radhika brings over 15 years of experience in the financial and Human Resources operations of high tech companies. She began her career at PricewaterhouseCoopers in New York City. In addition Radhika worked at Horn, Murdock, Cole, a leading national consulting firm. Here she specialized in early stage VC backed companies. In this role she was responsible for helping lead various high tech company’s global finance operations including raising capital, accounting, financial planning and analysis.

Most recently she was the Director of Finance at Jobflash Inc., a leader in IVR Technology and high-volume candidate scheduling for hourly industries such as restaurants, retail stores & casinos where she helped secure over $1.5 million in financing and structure the successful sale of the company.

Radhika holds a bachelors degree in Accounting from Pace University in New York City and a CA Real Estate Sales person License.

Jason Kalira joined Menlo Capital Group as an Analyst in the San Francisco, California Office. As a member of the Global Business Development team, Jason is responsible for underwriting key commercial and residential real estate development and acquisition opportunities in the United States and India. In addition, Jason provides analytical support to the MCG subsidiary companies worldwide.

Prior to joining Menlo Capital Group, Jason began his career with the Miller-Valentine Group, a former NAIOP National Developer of the Year, in Cincinnati, Ohio. At Miller-Valentine, Jason was responsible for conducting financial and market analysis for MV’s regional Mixed-Use and Office Condominium developments.

Jason Kalira graduated cum laude from The Ohio State University’s Fisher College of Business, completing the dual degree program and earning a Bachelors of Science in Real Estate & Urban Analysis, and a Bachelors of Science in Marketing. In 2006, Jason was one of only 25 students to receive advanced leadership training from the Procter & Gamble Company after being recognized by P&G as one of The Ohio State University’s Highest Potential Students.

Jason is currently an active member in the Urban Land Institute’s Young Leaders Group and the San Francisco Real Estate Exchange (SF Rex).

Mr. Kumar, Managing Director of Menlo Capital Group-India, has 15 years of rich, cross-functional technology experience with organizations in the IT, IT Services, High-Tech Media, and Financial Services sectors across the United States, Europe, and Asia. Mr. Kumar also brings 10 years of expertise in establishing Joint Ventures and initiatives in Business Development amongst international firms. Prior to joining Menlo Capital Group, Mr. Kumar served as an Advisor to 2i Capital Group, to whom he rendered strategic guidance in Venture Capital Financing to leverage India’s expertise in technology into global markets.

Mr. Kumar has also served as General Manager for the Europe division, and President of the India division of Peoplenet Corporation, a service provider for Internet Media Application and developer of communication software technology.

In addition, Mr. Kumar secured lease syndication mandates of over $30 Million USD within his first year of serving as Vice President of Centrum Finance, and has also directed RKO Ovation Systems, a hi-technology media based company, as its Chief Executive Officer.

Mr. Kumar earned a Bachelors of Commerce from the University of Bombay, and an MBA specializing in Marketing and Finance from the University of San Francisco.

Lalit Kumar, Global President to Menlo Health, is a senior executive with 30 years of domestic and international business management experience in FMCG, Financial Services, and Health Care. Partnered with extensive experience in Mergers & Acquisitions, Divestments, and Joint Venture formations, Lalit came to Menlo Capital Group with the unparalleled expertise to establish MCG’s global healthcare initiatives.

Prior to joining Menlo Capital Group, Lalit served as President and Chief Executive Officer of Reliance Industries Ltd, in which he established a vertically integrated, green field pharmaceutical generics business. At Reliance Industries, Lalit coordinated the development of state-of-the-art R&D Centers, Industrial Warehouses with capital expenditures exceeding $400 Million, and global sales and distribution services.

 

Previously, Lalit joined Wockhardt Ltd. as Executive Director of International Business where he was responsible for the management of all subsidiary companies in the United States and Germany. In addition, Lalit served as a Board Member at Workhardt in which he oversaw all strategic initiatives involving Mergers & Acquisitions, Divestments, Strategic Alliances and Joint Ventures. Lalit had also served as President of International Business and Bulk Drug Operations at Lubin Laboratories Ltd for 7 years, during which time he engineered 30% annual growth in exports, achieving $90 Million in export sales by 2000. Prior to joining Lubin, Lalit was with Citibank and spent nine years at Unilever India, serving as International Marketing Manager-Exports.

G. Nagarajan serves the Menlo Capital Group team as the Director of Business Development in India, with over 25 years of Banking and Investment Banking experience, and considerable experience in Industrial and Project Finance, Credit Syndication, rehabilitation and management of stressed assets, Merchant Banking, IPOs and Acquisitions.

Prior to joining Menlo Capital Group, Nagarajan served as Director (Corporate Advisory) of Opus Financial Services Ltd. In addition, Nagarajan lead the Investment Banking Division of IndusInd Bank, where he guided IndusInd through its initial phase of raising Tier I and Tier II capital and managed capital market operation, including efforts in new product and business development.

Nagarajan has also lead the Merchant Banking and Securities wing of Overseas Sanmar Financial Ltd., and served the State Bank of India for 17 years, including as the Senior Official in SBI’s premier merchant banking institution, SBICAPS. Throughout his career, Nagarajan has executed project appraisals, credit syndications, and over 100 IPOs for various groups such as ITC, Satyam, Workhardt, and Modern.

Sanjay Kumar has come to Menlo Capital Group with over 21 years of experience in the fields of Real Estate Finance and Development. Serving as Director of Business Development in Menlo’s Mumbai office, Sanjay is responsible for the sourcing and closing of real estate investment and development opportunities pan India.

Prior to joining Menlo Capital Group, Sanjay served as an Advisor to one of India’s largest development firms, as well as to several other financial companies, in which he was responsible for raising debt and equity financing for projects across India, Europe , and Egypt.

 

Most recently, Sanjay was credited with establishing a strategic relationship with MNC in which he raised $1.2 Billion USD in capital for two high-profile Industrial developments in India.

In addition to his role with Menlo Capital Group, Sanjay also serves on the Board of Directors for a private investment firm in the United Kingdom.
